Actually Im told they are threatened, I guess its mainly development around the brackish areas and then predators of their eggs

hey, guys srry i havnt been active lately, i was in oahu, hawaii. well speaking of turtles i got to swim with a family of green sea turtles. and gottee i cant post pic, simply because i dont know how, and i dont want anyone to see the small tank my turtle is in. he is moving to his 135 gallon in about 1 month.

He is a very social turtle. He likes to dig in the mud. He even loves to follow people around in the yard and beg for food, and he really seems to enjoy having his picture taken!

i have never used waxworms with turtles but i guess you could give them a few waxworms as a treat or to bring up weight.

You know, I think my favorite turtle picture is this one. No, it’s not my turtle. But I like it because I took it outdoors last summer, without a zoom lens.


I was so proud of myself for getting so close to a wild turtle and getting good camera shots. But then she kept coming right at me, begging for food, and even let me touch her, so I realized she was former pet somebody’d released. Since it was late summer, and in a healthy wetland in a protected park, and I didn’t hace anyplace appropriate to house her even if I DID want to take her home, I opted to leave her where she was. So I took her out, played around with her on the path a little bit, and chased her back nto the water when she got annoyed. Hopefully she was cautious enough after that to avoid being caught, smuggled out of the park, and thrown into some kid’s ten gallon fish tank.
Anyway, I liked her. Cute turtle.

Well, for all I know she was wildcaught orginally. Obviously they had her long enough for her to start begging from people, though. Painted turtles were made illegal here in Ohio relatively recently, so they might have heard that and gotten scared. Maybe they were keeping her in a garden pond and the neighbors threatened to call the state on them? I don’t know. There’s a LOT of painteds where I found her, though, so it’s not that bad a place to be. Hopefully she’s still paddling around out there.
