 Top 10 most venomouse snakes

What ever you want to know about the LD50 you should be able to find on venomdoc, it is a forum based site by dc Bryan Fry.
This list confuses me, where did you find it? For starters what is a reivie tiger snake? It seems to me like you mean Reevsby or something. I have always been led to believe all the top ten are Australian, not boasting or anything that’s just the way I have learnt. Lot’s disagree, lot’s agree. I agree that the Black mumba is nastey and probably much more dangerous then Brownies, especially the western brown that I don’t think belongs in tenth place. I only believe they are more dangerous because of their 100% guaranteed lethal bite without AV where as the brownies you’ve got a quarter of a chance. What is silly about this list to me is that there are multiple types of tigers, then suddenly all the death adders rolled into one. Also what isn’t allowed for in this list is recent studies that show the venom difference in Eastern browns from North Australia to Eastern Browns in south Australia. One northern Eastern Brown milked a wopping 300+ mil of venom. Also its odd how there is black tiger, then different forms and locals of black tigers. anyway, just seen the time and got to run, might comment more later

i was about to say that this post got stupid and off topic until m.punja. the ld50 chart is the only thing we have to go on. the black mamba bite are more painful than the browines but they really dont have human test subjects unless you want to be one.

I heard, going off the LD50 they deemed a certain type of spider incapable of delivering a fatal bite. However, said spider was biting humans and leaving them in a very bad state. They later found that while the venom had no effect of mice, it had a huge effect on humans. I’ll try and find an article I was reading recently on the LD50 and post it.

you can knock off at least 4 of those considering the deadliest snake in the entire world for the past few decades running is indeed the king cobra... and the diamond backed rattlesnake also contributes to more than half of the bites in americas mountain ranges

The King cobra only kills 4 anually..You need to start reading a little more brother and as far as the Diamonback goes; It only killed 8 people in the US last year, compared to the common cobra in Asia that killed 9, 000 alone..

It also has to due with a frequency the snake is encountered.
Mambas have a VERY potent venom, but aren’t encountered that often. They are large agile and aggressive.
Saw Scales are small, aggressive, and VERY common. They kill more people annually then Mambas, even more then any other snake in the world. Does this make their venom more potent? NO

no it doesn’t mean the venom of a saw scale is more potent, but the question was the most venomous snake not the most dangerous. the power of the venom has nothing to do with how often they are encountered in the wild, if the snake like the saw scale viper gets encountered 100 times a day or 1 time a year the venom is still the same.

It is not easy to pick a most venomous because of all the factors, mice react differently to venom then a person, people react differently also. but until they can come up with a better way the Ld50 is about all we have to go on. when someone is asking about venomous they are thinking about keeping i would consider a lot of other things along with venom.

Jparker, that is the point i was making. Read python kings post.
Saw scaled is by far the deadliest, but not the most venomous.
We will never know the most venomous until we see actual test on humans.

well yes venom power is very important but it also has to do with venom quantity because if you go drop for drop then the boomslang has recently been declared the most venomous on earth but the king cobra kills more because it produces much more and also it only has to strike once to bite you whereas the boomslang has to chew to inject you and same with the inland tiapan, it has to give you a really good bite to inject but unlike the boomslang doesnt have to chew. And the tiapan is higher on the most deadly list than the boomslang because it produces morse venom and bites better

As far as averages go and one 20 year study by venom researcher in Africa that I can’t think of his name but keeps the finger he lost by a puff Adder in a jar shows that the Black Mamba bite kills humans in a faster period than any other snake on the planet. All conditions were considered from the health of the patient to size. It is really no contest to how fast the mamba will kill a human. To me and only my opinion it is the most venomous snake on the planet to humans..

i was wondering about that post. how recently was the boomslang declared the most venomous on earth because according to Dr. bryan fry the inland taipan is the most venomous land or sea. boomslangs have to chew to inject venom that’s correct but what do you mean by the inland taipan having to give you a really good give you a really good bite to inject venom tapains are front fanged and can inject venom pretty easily.

i would say the most dangerous snake in the wild is the saw scaled viper. because its quick to bite and has strong venom, also it is found near people often. if you are talking about the most dangerous to keep i think i would be hard to pick one. black mamba, golds tree cobra, taipans, bushmasters would all be up there.

I don’t remember when it was declared and it may have been repealed or something but a study showed that the boomslang drop for drop had the most potent venom but it lacks the quantity and the ability to give a bite that if it didn’t chew then it wouldn’t do much damage.
But yes in all technicality the inland tiapan is the most venomous
